The highly popularized music streaming service which is operating out of London and in Sweden, is boosting its service and combating technical issues which have arisen with its constant usage. The User Interface has been enhanced by the service implementing a side bar to accelerate navigation which, in turn, improves faster mobility change between each screen. A button has been appointed to the track listings to allow users the option of adding songs to playlists, using the track as a base, or sharing tracks among other users. Technical errors have been addressed as well, through the upgrade, including the Shuffle screen freezing when being used with a playlist or album via Shuffle Play, a track still playing when a user goes offline, and an incorrect track is shown on the iOS lock screen.
The improvements made to the mobile software come at a delicate time when it is rumored Google is proposing to allocate a music streaming service through its Google Play feature sometime soon. Although Spotify isgaining popularity and gives consumers access to over 18 million songs with over 15 million users, Google wanting to acquire some of the action may develop into heavy competition for the Swedish company. The improved app is now accustomed for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch if the devices are operating on iOS 5.0 or later. The app is also free for users within the United States. Everywhere else requires a subscription to Spotify Premium.
